Access to Oral History Material

The goal of the Marshall Library is to make all of the oral history material available to researchers on the same basis as the manuscripts. Meanwhile, the following access guidelines have been established:

  • Tapes and transcripts in the open oral history collection are open to researchers on an equal basis.
  • Tapes and transcripts in the closed oral history collection will remain closed to all researchers unless they receive approval in writing from the person who conducted the interview. An effort will be made to comply with current copyright laws and acquire written rights to the interviews from both the interviewer and interviewee. This will allow staff to open individual interviews as rights are obtained.
