John Khoury says of himself that he “was an ordinary infantry soldier who served my country in World War II, a time of national peril.” He fought with the 399th Infantry Regiment. Like many soldiers throughout history, when the war was over he endeavored to put that period of his life behind him, and never intended to write his memoirs. He married, was blessed with four children, and had a successful businiess career. In later years, Mr. Khoury was moved or inspired to write his story from memory since no one kept diaries during combat.
