E. Howard Hammersley Photograph Collection
E. Howard Hammersley entered the Army Air Corps in 1942 and graduated from their photo school. He served thirty-eight months in England, Africa, and Italy finishing his World War II duty as chief photo officer of the Mediterranean Allied Air Forces. He flew more than forty combat missions capturing the danger of aerial warfare in grisly detail. The collection contains photographs taken by Hammersley during World War II.
