Mr. F. D. Patterson, President
Dear Mr. Patterson:
I wish it were possible for me to offer some hope for the early erection of a U.S.O. recreational building at Tuskegee Institute, as you requested in your letter of October 14.
Since only a small part of the money appropriated under the Community Facilities Act is available for providing recreational facilities, it has been necessary to establish priorities in accordance with degree of urgency. Your need for a recreation center is fully appreciated by the War Department and the Federal Security Agency, but unfortunately there are other cases involving greater needs and larger numbers of men at this time.
Thank you for your continuing interest in these matters.
