Black and White Digital Photo File (jpg)
Harnes Thermal Plant
Harnes thermal power station is located near one of the coal mines in French Flanders and burns unsaleable coal. More than half of the generated power is used by the mines. All of the machinery in this plant is American made – imported partly through an U.S. Export-Import Bank Loan, party through ECA. Two giant transformers were received directly under the Marshall Plan. 500,000,000 francs in counterpart funds went into this power project.
