FRA-00607, French Farms Modernize
Black and White Digital Photo File (jpg)
The most striking feature of France’s Marshall Plan program is a marked increase of basic agricultureal commodities. The program intends to make France the largest Western European exporter of basic foodstuffs. A radical increase in the use of machinery and fertilizers, imporvement of seed, and major changes in farming methods are helped by the Marshall Plan. The general target for agricultureal production in 1952-53 is the 26 percent above prewar. Wheat, meat and dairy products are among the major export commodities. This project contributes not only to French recovery, but to the recovery of all western Europe, by decreasing European foreign exxhange outlay for food.
