FRA-00756, Hydbrid Corn
Black and White Digital Photo File (jpg)
A survey established that the ten corn-producting Marshall Plan countries could increase their yields per acre by an average of at least 25 percent through further development and use of hybrid seed corn. The project was worked out and carried through by OEEC and ECA. Here are two samples of corn grown in France in 1949. The larger ear is American hybrid corn; the smaller a regular open-pollinated variety of flint corn.
