The Andrew J. Goodpaster Award
The Andrew J. Goodpaster Award honors the life and service of General Andrew J. Goodpaster, a longtime trustee and a chairman of the Foundation, a champion of the Marshall legacy, an American hero, and an extraordinary public servant.
The Goodpaster Award is presented to American business leaders, politicians, military leaders and others who have served our nation in exemplary ways, who, like General Goodpaster, have exhibited great courage, selfless service, patriotism and leadership in their lives and careers.
2008: Brent Scowcroft
Lt. General Brent Scowcroft received the first Goodpaster Award in December 2008 at a gala dinner in Washington. General Scowcroft epitomizes a life of selfless devotion and service to the country he loves deeply. A former trustee of the Marshall Foundation like his good friend and colleague Andrew Goodpaster, Brent Scowcroft served as National Security Advisor to Presidents Gerald Ford and George H. W. Bush. His extraordinary twenty-nine-year military career began with graduation from West Point and included numerous assignments addressing long-range military planning, international relations and national security issues.
