Why It's Important

As a fully private non-profit, we rely on the generosity of those who believe that George C. Marshall’s towering personal example of selfless service, honor, and humility is a legacy that must be honored and supported.

And that example has never been more important.  Our nation and the world need Marshall more than ever before.  With your support we can ensure that the Foundation will continue to be a world-class research library and a vital resource for students, researchers, and history enthusiasts to study General Marshall’s life and lessons.

Please know that we are mindful of the trust you put in us to use your gift wisely—we promise that we will continue to be worthy of that trust.

The George C. Marshall Foundation is a not-for-profit, educational organization as described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. Gifts to the Foundation are tax deductible to the full extent provided by law.

A financial statement is available upon written request from the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Office of Charitable and Regulatory Programs.

Ways to Give

  • Gift of Stockarrow

The George C. Marshall Foundation puts gifts of stock to work right away. This is an easy way to give and offer tax advantages that can be discussed with a financial professional. The quickest and most secure way to donate stock is to ask your broker to make a transfer from your account to the Foundation’s broker through the Depository Trust Company (DTC). For assistance with this transaction, please contact our development office at [email protected] or 540.463.7103, ext. 138.

  • Matching Giftsarrow

Does your employer match employee contributions? Matching contributions received from corporations are greatly appreciated and are a wonderful way to increase your support of the Marshall Foundation. Please check with your employer to find out if your company matches charitable contributions. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected] or 540.463.7103, ext. 138.

  • Donor-Advised Fundarrow

A donoradvised fund is a charitable investment account that offers a simple and tax-efficient way to maximize the impact of your charitable giving. Contributions may be eligible for a tax deduction and grow tax-free, leveraging the value of your philanthropy.

If you have any questions, please contact [email protected] or 540.463.7103, ext. 138.

  • Donate Using an IRA Qualified Charitable Deduction (QCD)arrow

If you are age 72 or older, IRS rules require you to take required minimum distributions (RMDs) each year from your tax-deferred retirement accounts.

A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA, payable directly to a qualified charity, as described in the QCD provision in the Internal Revenue Code. Amounts distributed as a QCD can be counted toward satisfying your RMD for the year, up to $100,000. The QCD is excluded from your taxable income.

If you have any questions, please contact [email protected] or 540.463.7103, ext. 138.
