George C. Marshall and World War II

“In a war unparalleled in magnitude and in horror, millions of Americans gave their country outstanding service. General of the Army George C. Marshall gave it victory.”

President Harry S. Truman, November 26, 1945

The George C. Marshall Foundation is hosting two professional development seminars for secondary school teachers in Lexington, Virginia, during the summer of 2025. An in-person session will be held from June 22 to 26, 2025. A self-paced, asynchronous virtual session will be available to educators from July 7 to August 8, 2025. Teachers will learn about General of the Army George C. Marshall’s role in World War II—and discover practical ways to incorporate General Marshall in their classrooms. Attendees will finish the session with a portfolio of lesson plans for the 2025–2026 school year. The George C. Marshall Foundation Teachers Institute is ideal for teachers of U.S. History and World History.
