Taylor, Maxwell D. Interviews
A graduate of West Point, Taylor was Asst. SGS in Washington prior to Pearl Harbor. On Dec. 24, 1941, he was promoted to Lt. Col and his first star was awarded Dec. 1942 when he became division artillery commander. On D-Day, Taylor jumped with the first wave into Normandy behind Utah Beach. Taylor became Superintendent of USMA in September 1945 at the age of 44, the youngest since MacArthur.
